International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th and is a day to celebrate the achievements of women and an opportunity to focus on issues related to gender equality and diversity and inclusion (EDI).

Here are a few ideas on how to participate/ get involved in International Women’s Day events and support the empowerment of women.

-One way is to create an event in your school or local community to talk about EDI topics, and to celebrate the women in your life. You could review your school’s or business’ EDI strategy and voice any progressions that have been made. Another idea is to invest in continuous learning by attending a workshop or reading a book about EDI topics.

You can also get involved by supporting women-owned businesses or not-for-profits advocating for the cause of gender equality. You could spend time giving back to local schools by helping them create EDI programming or assisting them in fundraising efforts.

Participating in IWD and getting involved in your community will help raise awareness and create a platform for positive change.
