We are thrilled to announce that the Threads of Belonging community tapestry has officially stepped out of our workshops and into the public eye! Following a successful launch this past weekend, the 6ft-tall artwork is now on public display in the foyer of Keighley Market.

A Story Woven by Many Hands

This isn’t just a piece of art; it’s a collective map of our community’s identity. Over the past months, we’ve worked alongside local residents, women’s groups, and families from across Bradford to explore what “belonging” really means in a town with such a deep industrial soul.

Inspired by the historic Dalton Mills, participants didn’t just use traditional textiles. We blended heritage with the future, using creative coding and digital design to help people translate their personal stories into visual motifs.

Why You Should Visit

Standing at six feet tall, the banner is a vibrant reflection of Dalton Mills’ past, present, and future—as seen through the eyes of the people who live here. Whether you added a stitch yourself or are simply curious about Keighley’s heritage, the tapestry offers a unique window into the voices that make our district so special.

As our CEO, Tim Rogers, shared:

“Dalton Mills carries a massive amount of industrial and community heritage. We are really pleased that so many contributed to Threads of Belonging and produced this tapestry. We hope to add to it over time and capture more stories and threads of belonging”.
